Les Portes du Soleil is a major skisports destination in the Alps, encompassing 12 ski resorts (Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine-Avoriaz, St Jean d'Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon and Val-d'Illiez with Les Crosets and Champoussin) between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Portes du Soleil ranks one of the largest ski areas in the world. Almost all of the pistes are connected by lifts – a few marginal towns can be reached only by the free bus services in the area
